HS Year no EOC-CV
HS Semester-CV

  1. The basic scheme for calculating semester and course grades is explained in the 2019-2020 issue of SBBC policy 6000.1 in Appendix "C" starting on page 93.
  2. Exam Exemptions are explained in the BCPS High School Exam Exemption Document.
  3. Grading of classes impacted by the lack of normal Final Exams or EOCs during the Spring Semester of the 2019-2020 school year is done according to the "FINAL EXAM INFORMATION" obtainable from this link for Coral Glades HS.
  4. The calclator pages have blue and white grid areas. The blue ones are information only, the white ones can be changed by you.
  5. All grades are initially set to "A".
  6. To change any particular grade used in the calculation click on it. This will cause the color to change from white to red, and a group of red grid areas to appear containing all the possible grades for that item.
  7. To change the selected item, click the grade you want to use in your calculation for that item.
  8. You can click another item to change the grade for that one.
  9. If you click an item again, it will change back from red to white.

This page is intended for calculation of the final Class grade in a class with an EOC in a year in which the EOC is given "on-campus". Please note the following rules:

  1. The grade is for one full year. Only one grade will appear on your transcript.
  2. The EOC can NOT be exempted. If you refuse or fail to take the EOC enter the EOC grade as "F#" to find your course grade.
  3. You MAY be allowed exempt the mid-term but you cannot exempt more than a total of 3 midterms. Midterms in AP, AICE, FLVS/BVS, and/or Dual Enrollment classes can NOT be exempted. If in doubt, check with your advisor.

  1. Details of calculation for exempted exams can be found in This paper
  2. Exemption can be applied to a maximum of 3 courses and requires both quarter grades B or above.
  3. If you are eligible to exempt, the MT-X row will show the grade and points for the exempted exam and the CLASS-X row will show the resulting Semester Class grade. Otherwise they will be blank.
  4. EOCs can NEVER be exempted.
  5. Midterms in some EOC classes CAN be exempted.
  6. Midterms in AP, AICE, FLVS/BVS, and/or Dual Enrollment classes can NOT be exempted.
  7. A grade of F* is an F because of the 2/3 rule: given the First Quarter, Second Quarter, and Midterm, you you must receive a grade of D or above in at least 2 of these 3 to receive a grade above F for the semester, even if the remaining grade is an "A".

This page is intended for calculation of the final Class grade in a class intended to have an EOC but in a year in which the EOC can not be given. For example 2019 - 2020. Please note the following:

  1. The grade is for one full year. Only one grade will appear on your transcript.
  2. Grading of classes impacted by the lack of normal Final Exams or EOCs during the Spring Semester of the 2019-2020 school year is done according to the "FINAL EXAM INFORMATION" obtainable from this link for Coral Glades HS
  3. If the student earns a grade of "A", "B+", "B", "C+", or "C" in quarter 4, then the grade substitution for the EOC will be the highest of the grades from Quarters 1 - 4.
  4. IF the student earns a grade of “D” in quarter 4, then the grade for the EOC is the highest of the grades from Quarters 3 or 4.
  5. Because the EOC is restricted to "whole-letter" grades, if the highest grade as calculated above is a "B+", this will yield a grade of "B" on the EOC, a "C+" will give a "C" and a "D+" will give a "D".
